Discovery's Security Team Did Things Right—
Will Yours?
On September 1, 2010, Jason Lee stormed Discovery Communications in Silver Spring, Maryland, with what looked like an explosive vest. He subsequently took three hostages, two Discovery Channel employees and a security guard. After a tense three-hour standoff with police, Lee pulled a handgun and threatened the hostages, at which time police tactical officers shot and killed him.
