Sunstates Security is honored to recognize Wayne Keough Jr, a dedicated veteran whose service to our nation exemplifies courage and unwavering commitment. Wayne’s distinguished military career spanned over eight years with six in the United States Naval Special Warfare units, including a period of service with the elite SEAL Teams Two and Ten. As well as two years with the US Coast Guard.
Military Experience
Wayne’s service was during some of the most challenging conflicts of our time, including the Gulf War (Operation Enduring Freedom), the Haiti Conflict, and the Former Yugoslavia conflict. His bravery and expertise were instrumental in safeguarding our nation. In addition to his tours, he traveled extensively, with postings in Spain, California, and Virginia, and resided in England for four years.
An impressive collection of military decorations was awarded to Wayne, including the National Defense Service Medal, Southwest Asia Service Medal with Bronze Star, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Meritorious Unit Commendation, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, Armed Forces Service Medal, First Navy Good Conduct Award, and the Former Yugoslavia Medal.
Sunstates Security
After his notable military career, Wayne gained extensive experience in law enforcement, private investigation, and contract security, leading teams of up to 24 officers. He now serves as a Site Manager at a large energy plant in NY for Sunstates Security. In this role, he has significantly enhanced site security by implementing CTPAT programs and expanding camera coverage from 12 to over 90. He also improved operational efficiency through redesigned timekeeping sheets and streamlined SOP and CTPAT documentation.
When asked about his experience at Sunstates, Wayne highlighted the strong team camaraderie, emphasizing the positive collaboration between managers and officers. He also enjoys training new team members. His advice to new officers is to utilize all available training to advance their careers.
Personal
Wayne demonstrates a profound dedication to service, both in security and community well-being. He serves as an Active Violence Emergency Response Training Instructor (AVERT) and Behavioral Threat Assessment Manager (BTAM) for the NY region and further exemplifies his commitment through his Adult Mental Health First Aid certification and his role as Captain and EMT with the Breesport Volunteer Fire Department.
And finally, Wayne’s most cherished role is that of proud father to four children: Bradley, Matthew, James, and Kennedy.
