For the fourth consecutive year, Sunstates Security is proud to lace up and participate in the Triangle Heart Walk, an event that directly benefits the American Heart Association (AHA). Our involvement in this event is more than a tradition; it’s a powerful reflection of our company’s values and a hands-on demonstration of our commitment to the health and well-being of the communities we serve. This year, we’ve made a significant company donation, and our team is actively fundraising with a goal of raising $10,000 to support this vital cause.

Our connection to the American Heart Association’s mission reflects the work our officers do every day. In the security profession, being prepared to respond in a critical moment can make all the difference. Almost half of our team is CPR certified, and each year, Sunstates officers put that training into action to help save lives both on and off duty. With more than 350,000 cardiac arrests occurring outside of hospitals each year, the AHA emphasizes that immediate CPR can double or even triple a person’s chance of survival. Supporting the Heart Walk allows us to recognize the lifesaving efforts of our officers while helping advance the training, education, and research that strengthen communities.

The Triangle Heart Walk brings together thousands of people across North Carolina in support of better cardiovascular health. As one of the region’s largest community health events, it raises critical funds for heart and stroke research, prevention, education, and awareness. These contributions help expand lifesaving resources throughout the state, including CPR education and training, while supporting continued advancements in cardiovascular care and research.

CPR Saves Lives

A strong example of these lifesaving skills in action was recognized this year when we named the 2026 Officer of the Year, Officer Jeffrey Davis of the Denver region. In August 2025, Officer Jeffrey Davis responded to a vehicle collision in Aurora and found the driver unconscious and in severe medical distress. He immediately contacted emergency services and administered CPR, stabilizing the driver until paramedics arrived. A client representative confirmed that his decisive intervention directly saved the driver’s life, and Davis has since been promoted to Site Supervisor for a large national account.

This effort is championed by our CEO, Denis Kelly, who continues his involvement with Executives with Heart, a group of business leaders committed to advancing the American Heart Association’s mission. His participation reflects Sunstates’ broader commitment to working alongside organizations and leaders to help create healthier, stronger communities.
